Netflix has picked up Maniac, a new series from Cary Fukunaga, the Emmy-winning director behind True Detective season one.
An adaptation of a Norwegian program of the same name, the dark comedy revolves around a psych ward patient named Espen, who escapes reality by entering a fantasy world in his own mind where he can battle zombies, score the winning touchdown, or take out Hitler. Emma Stone and Jonah Hill, who reunite for the first time since Superbad, will star while Fukunaga is set to direct all 10 of the initial episodes. All three will also executive produce.
