Frances Bean Cobain seeks to protect inheritance from Kurt Cobain-lookalike soon-to-be-ex husband

Daughter of Nirvana frontman received an inheritance worth $450 million

Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, has filed for divorce from her husband of two years, Isaiah Silva.

In divorce documents filed to Los Angeles Superior Court this week (via The Wrap), Cobain asked that all premarital assets be considered separate property. Those assets include the $450 million dollar inheritance she received from her Nirvana-fronting father.

By the sound of it, Cobain did not have a prenuptial agreement, and Silva could be entitled to a portion of his ex-wife’s assets. Fortunately for Cobain, California state law treats inheritance as the property of the sole individual, and it’s unlikely Silva would have any claim to it. He could however be awarded appreciation of the assets that occurred during their marriage, as well as any homes, cars, or other valuables purchased while the two were together.

In the divorce documents, Cobain indicated an openness to pay spousal support. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.

Emails to Cobain’s lawyer went unreturned.
