Nickelodeon is developing a Legends of the Hidden Temple movie

The TV network continues to revisit its '90s-era programming

Nickelodeon continues to mine its golden era of ’90s programming. Previously, the TV network announced news of a Hey Arnold revival and a crossover film featuring characters from Rugrats, Doug, and Ren & Stimpy. Now, in its latest move to attract viewers hungry for #nostalgia, Nickelodeon has revealed that a Legends of the Hidden Temple-inspired movie is in the works.

As Variety reports, the film is set to air on TV later this year. It will focus on three siblings who must overcome a number of challenges in order to survive. Along with the “adventurous” plot, the Hidden Temple movie will feature other elements from the original game show, such as Olmec the talking head and cameos from a green monkey, red jaguar, and silver snakes (all of which were team names on the ’90s program).

Update – Friday, March 25th at 3:00 p.m. CT: Variety reports Kirk Fogg, the original host of Nickelodeon’s Legends of the Hidden Temple, will appear in the forthcoming movie. Other confirmed cast members include Colin Critchley, Jet Jurgensmeyer, and Isabela Moner.

Joe Menendez is set to direct with a script provided by Jonny Umansky, Zach Hyatt, and Alex Reid. Isabela Moner (Nickelodeon’s 100 Things to Do Before High School) will star.

Currently, reruns of Legends of the Hidden Temple, which originally aired from 1993 to 1995, are occasionally part of the TeenNick block The Splat.
