R&B singer Kehlani was hospitalized Monday evening after an apparent suicide attempt.
In a since deleted posting to Instagram, the 20-year-old Oakland native wrote, “Today I wanted to leave this Earth. Being completely selfish for once. Never thought I’d get to such a low point.” The text captioned a photo of her arm with an IV as she laid in a hospital bed.
She went on to reference recent Internet rumors suggesting she cheated on her boyfriend, NBA all-star Kyrie Irving, with R&B singer PartyNextDoor. “No one was cheated on and I’m not a bad person,” Kehlani wrote. “Everyone is hurt and everyone is in a place of misunderstanding.”
In a subsequent posting, Kehlani thanked PartyNextDoor for “saving my life.”
Update – Tuesday, March 29th at 3:10 p.m. CT: TMZ reports that Kehlani has been placed on a psychiatric hold.
