Wise guy actor Robert De Niro performing stand-up comedy in NYC

He's gone Method again for Taylor Hackford's The Comedian

Twenty years ago, Robert De Niro wisely stated in Michael Mann’s Heat, “Don’t let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner.” That’s some sound logic that he should apply to his own jokes tomorrow night during his stand-up routine at New York City’s Village Underground.

Wait, what?

Yes, as Vulture reports, the infamous Method actor is going full Method again for his latest role as an aging insult comic in Taylor Hackford’s forthcoming The Comedian. The entire evening will be filmed and De Niro’s entire set was written by the Roasmaster himself, Jeff Ross, who assisted on the film’s screenplay.

Naturally, tickets are already sold out, but it’s nice to know that De Niro didn’t have to resort to kidnapping for this set. And if any of you got that reference, you probably deserve to be there. If you didn’t…
