One week before his death at the age of 57, Prince performed two unforgettable final concerts at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre. He had been in the midst of a solo piano tour entitled “Piano & A Microphone”, and both performances were marked by a degree of intimacy rarely witnessed at Prince’s more extravagant, full-band shows.
The all-encompassing setlists drew from every stage of the Purple One’s prolific career, and included a cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes”, which is all the more heartbreaking now that we’ve lost both icons within a span of months. The evening ended with a stirring rendition of “Purple Rain”, with the crowd singing along.
As Idolator reports, a complete recording of the second show is now available to stream via Soundcloud.
