Coachella just kicked off its first weekend today, but already organizers are looking forward to future events. Specifically, Goldenvoice is planning a fall festival in Indio featuring not one, not two, not three, but six (!) legendary rock acts.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the once-in-a-lifetime lineup will see Sir Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Roger Waters, The Who, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young all sharing the same stage for the first time ever.
The three-day festival is set to take place October 7th – 9th at the Empire Polo Grounds. As the Times notes, Dylan and The Stones are to play back to back on Friday to open the festival. Young and McCartney will follow on Saturday, with The Who and Waters closing out the event on Sunday.
“It’s so special in so many ways,” said Young’s longtime manager, Elliot Roberts, “because you won’t get a chance to see a bill like this, perhaps ever again. It’s a show I look forward to more than any show in a long time.”
An official announcement is expected in the coming weeks.
Update – Thursday, April 21st at 10:30 a.m. CT: Roger Daltrey has confirmed The Who’s participation in a new interview with Postmedia Network. “I think it’s us and Roger Waters on the same day,” Daltrey said. “I mean it’s a fantastic idea for a festival. It’s the greatest remains of our era. I’m glad we made it.”
