David Gilmour mashes up “Comfortably Numb” and “Purple Rain” in tribute to Prince — watch

David Gilmour paid tribute to fellow guitar virtuoso Prince during his gig at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Sunday night. Bathed in purple light, the Pink Floyd member performed a mashup of “Comfortably Numb” and Prince’s “Purple Rain”.

Gilmour’s wife and frequent collaborator Polly Samson shared further video on Instagram:

This is not the first time Gilmour has covered “Purple Rain”. He teamed with Tom Jones for a live performance of the song back in 1992.
