Guardians of the Galaxy hero Dave Bautista teases role in Blade Runner 2

The cast for Denis Villeneuve's highly anticipated sequel is shaping up

Consider Guardians of the Galaxy hunk Dave Bautista eligible for the Voight-Kampf test. The 47-year-old actor/professional mixed martial artist/former professional wrestler stirred the crazy pot this weekend when he posted quite the titillating photo on his Twitter account, which all but confirms he’s in for Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2.

Fans will undoubtedly recognize the silver origami unicorn as a nod to Ridley Scott’s 1982 original, and while it’s no official confirmation, it does make sense when coupled with the recent news that House of Cards star Robin Wright is currently in final negotiations to appear as well. Perhaps we’ll receive a full casting announcement soon?

Bautista is currently filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and production for Blade Runner 2 is slated for July. If all goes to plan, he and Wright will join the ranks of Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling for the sequel penned by original co-writer Hampton Fancher and Michael Green. The film will hit theaters January 12, 2018.
