Idris Elba might never play James Bond, but he’s making up for lost time as 007 by doing everything else these days. As NME reports, the future Gunslinger and gangster sea lion recently collaborated with Fatboy Slim (aka Norman Cook) on a new track to be released in conjunction with Elba’s new film, Bastille Day.
“I don’t know if it’s under wraps so I don’t want to get in trouble by saying too much,” Cook admitted. “It’s called Bastille Day, and we’ve written a song together, and Idris sings on it which is fun.
“I’ve seen him DJ many times, that’s how we ended up knowing each other. We share the same management so we’re often on the bill together, and that’s how we became pals.”
In fact, this is not the first time the pair have collaborated on a song. Last year, Elba and Cook rewired, no pun intended, Mark Ronson’s radio hit “Uptown Funk”, which you can revisit below. That should keep you satiated until Bastille Day surfaces later this month.
