Oliver Stone’s highly anticipated biopic on Edward Snowden has been pushed around like the whistleblower himself. What was supposed to hit theaters this past Christmas — because, c’mon, nothing says the holidays like a little NSA surveillance! — will now bow out September 16th.
Based on Luke Harding’s The Snowden Files and Anatoly Kucherena’s Time of the Octopus,Snowden stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the titular American computer wunderkind, who learns all about the NSA and … well, you know what happens. As the tagline suggests, “The only safe place is on the run.”
As with any Stone film, there’s an all-star cast that includes Shailene Woodley, Nicolas Cage, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans, Joely Richardson, Scott Eastwood, and Timothy Olyphant. Check out the trailer above to catch a glimpse of the globe-trotting chaos.
