Yesterday, Sony and MGM provided our first look at Antoine Fuqua’s remake of The Magnificent Seven in the form of stills from the film. Today, we get to see the titular gunslingers in action, as two new teaser trailers for the movie have come online.
Both the US and international trailers set up the same story: The town of Rose Creek is under the iron-fisted control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), so the townsfolk hire Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington) to rally a posse and free the city. As one Rose Creek resident puts it in the preview, “I seek righteousness, but I’ll take revenge.”
The trailers make it clear that Chris Pratt’s Josh Farraday will be Chisolm’s righthand man in the inevitable battle (he also gets the line, “I’ve always wanted to blow something up,” which is pure Pratt), but also offers brief introductions to the rest of the gang. There’s Fuqua and Washington’s Training Day pal Ethan Hawke as the impressively named Goodnight Robicheaux, Vincent D’Onofrio as Jack Horne, Byung-hun Lee as the knife-happy Billy Rocks, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Vasquez, and Martin Sensmeier as the Native arrow slinger Red Harvest.

Due out September 23rd, The Magnificent Seven was written by True Detective scribe Nic Pizzolatto and The Equalizer writer Richard Wenk based on the 1960 John Sturges film of the same name that was in turn a western remake of Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic Seven Samurai.
