Kylie Minogue and Guy Pearce reunite for ’70s comedy, Flammable Children

The Neighbours stars are back together and they're not on Ramsay Street

Long before Kylie Minogue was a global phenomenon (and melted the hearts of every Generation-Xer in Bio-Dome), she starred in Australia’s long-running soap opera, Neighbours. Fun fact: She also shared the small screen alongside Memento and L.A. Confidential hunk Guy Pearce. Now, decades removed from their sunny days on Ramsay Street, the two Aussie exports are reuniting for Stephan Elliott’s decadent comedy, Flammable Children.

Set in an Australian beachside suburb circa 1975, the story captures an enlightening week in the sandy shoes of a teenage boy and girl, who experience something wild amid the country’s sexual revolution and constitutional crises. As Screen Australia notes, “Something is about to go spectacularly wrong, and their lives will change forever.” Pitch Black hero Radha Mitchell also stars, and one would assume neither she nor Pearce or Minogue are playing the teens.

“We are so excited to be able to support Flammable Children,” Screen Australia chief executive Graeme Mason says. “In Kylie, Guy and Radha, the team has been able to secure some of Australia’s most established and iconic talents. The powerhouse in front of the camera is matched by the award-winning team behind it, who will bring our memories of 1970s Australia to life.”

Production begins this October. In the meantime, revisit this nostalgic behind-the-scenes clip between Minogue and Pearce.
