Kids Interview Bands is meant to be a playful little internet show where young people talk to musicians they’ve probably never heard of and ask them completely immaterial questions. You know, things like what’s your favorite fictional dog and what’s the best way to enter a pool? It’s usually a charming watch if nothing else, but as you can see from this recent episode with Puscifer, sometimes it can just be uncomfortable as heck.
Maynard James Keenan and Carina Round were game enough to sit down with young Piper for the talk, but they didn’t seem particularly interested in even feigning to take the whole thing seriously. For most of the interview, Keena felt one word answers were sufficient, saying simply “yes” when asked if he’d ever seen something that’s made him laugh in an audience or “absolutely” when questioned about pop guilty pleasures. Round almost tried to put in the effort to engage with a kid like, ya know, a kid, but then came that recurring question about the Spice Girls. She started out legitimately trying, but when Keenan began taking the piss, she took it into slightly non-kid-friendly territory.
