Erik Bauersfeld, who famously voiced the Star Wars character Admiral Ackbar, has died at the age of 93, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
A career radio dramatist, Bauersfeld was working on a project for Lucasfilm when he was asked to read for the role of Admiral Ackbar. He ended up voicing both the amphibious Rebel Alliance commander and Jabba the Hutt’s majordomo Bib Fortuna in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Three decades later, he reprised Admiral Ackbar for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Bauserfeld’s other film credits included Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak and Steven Spielberg’s A.I. Artificial Intelligence.
