Lush drop their new EP, Blind Spot, today through their own Edamame label. Spotify users can stream it in full below. It’s also available over on Apple Music.
Blind Spot serves as the recently reunited shoegaze outfit’s first piece of new material since the 1996 single “500 (Shake Baby Shake)”. Recorded last summer alongside producers Daniel Hunt of Ladytron and Jim Abbiss, it spans four tracks, including “Lost Boy”, “Rosebud”, and early single “Out of Control”.
Lush co-founder Miki Berenyi spoke about the EP in a statement:
“It certainly took some time to set up, but once we were in the studio, everything came together incredibly quickly. It was great fun! It’s been a long time since I’ve written Lush lyrics, and I realised early on with this EP that what I wrote about then is not what I feel comfortable writing about now. My perspective, and what is close to my heart, has changed, and I think that’s conveyed in the songs.”
The EP comes on the heels of the band’s first US tour in two decades; according to Lush, if all goes well with Blind Spot, a new full-length may soon be in the works.
