We all knew this was coming. Right?

Ben Affleck is directing a Batman film.

This should be surprising, but anyone with half a brain knew that was the idea from the get-go. When Warner Bros. nabbed the actor-turned-filmmaker shortly after his win for 2012’s Argo, it was all but unconfirmed that he’d eventually suit up both behind and in front of the camera. It was just a matter of when…

This is that “when”: As Variety reports, Warner Bros. chief Kevin Tsujihara confirmed the unspoken news on Tuesday at CinemaCon, to which the studio followed up shortly later via a press release. Affleck also appeared at the conference, but did not disclose any more details about the film.

But, it’s written, at least if we’re to take the Gotham hunk seriously. In the meantime, head out to theaters and catch Warner’s latest franchise hit, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This writer can’t fully endorse it, but Gerber and Gerber?
