The Kills share new single and video “Heart of a Dog” — watch

Alison Mosshart proves her loyalty in new track from Ash & Ice

Ash & Ice, the new album from The Kills, is coming June 3rd from Domino Records. Since releasing lead single “Doing it to Death”, the rock duo has been road testing material from the Blood Pressures follow-up. Today, the band has shared the studio version of “Heart of a Dog”, one of the tracks debuted live.

The slinky cool of “Heart of a Dog” comes from that sort of dripping guitar lines and sludged rhythms for which The Kills are much beloved. Instead of the creeping blues of the lead track, however, this new song beats with the unflinching affection of the faithful. “I get lost but I always come around/ It’s a strange fear allows me to be found,” Alison Mosshart sings on the hook. I’m loyal…. I got the heart of a dog.”

“Heart of a Dog” comes by way of a video that sees Mosshart and bandmate Jamie Hince demonstrating just how loyal they are to their friendship. From chilling by the pool, working in the living room, climbing over cars, or cuddling a cute brown pooch, the pair seem inseparable. In fact, the clip makes you think the song is as much about Mosshart promising to always come back to The Kills over her other band commitments as it is about any sort of romance.
