BRONCHO reflect on love and heartbreak on new song “I Know You” — listen

On forthcoming album Double Vanity, Oklahoma’s BRONCHO riff on love — the good and the bad, the sentimental and the sexual.

The indie rockers showed an appetite for the flesh on previous single “Señora Borealis”, and on “Fantasy Boys”, they gave us a peek at the darkness that sometimes lurks behind such carnal desires. According to a press release, other LP tracks, such as “New Karma” and “Two Step”, are said to evoke dreamlike images of “John Hughes prom nights” and the kind of crushes that make one sweat, melt, and starry-eyed all at once.

BRONCHO continue to mine matters of the heart on their latest offering “I Know You”. This time around, rather than the purely physical, they reflect on marriage. “One guy in the band got married, another got divorced. So in this song we are weighing the pros and cons of marriage,” guitarist/frontman Ryan Lindsey tells Consequence of Sound.

“Keep your head on tight, get to feeling right/ You’ll be safe tonight, only if you keep it at a medium high,” frontman Lindsey warns, his vocals filtered through a foggy haze. Drums and guitars chug behind him steadily, creating an otherworldly trance that can be likened to the feeling of falling in love or losing oneself in the downward spiral of a breakup. Strange how both can feel so similar.

“I Know You” was premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 program this afternoon, but receives its online debut here on CoS. Stream it below.

Double Vanity, which follows 2014’s Just Enough Hip To Be Woman, is out on June 10th through Dine Alone. Pre-order it here.
