Back in 2013, Interpol frontman Paul Banks and RZA said they were recording a new album together. At the time, the Wu-Tang Clan MC described the material as “very, very different than what I do, but very unique and very peculiar,” but cautioned that it wouldn’t be out “for a while.”
Fast forward some three years and their collaborative project has finally arrived. Under the official moniker Banks & Steelz, they’ve shared their debut song “Love + War”, which also features contributions from fellow Wu-Tang member Ghostface Killah.

Update — Friday, May 20th at 9:00 a.m. CT: Banks & Steelz have shared the official music video for “Love + War”. The Arms Race-directed clip pays homage to the Quentin Tarantino classic Reservoir Dogs.
Banks and RZA, who are apparently pretty good friends and often play chess together, have two Banks & Steelz-related installations up and running in Los Angeles and New York.
In case you were wondering, this is hardly Banks’ first foray into hip-hop. In 2013, he released his debut mixtape, Everybody On My Dick Like They Supposed To Be, which counted El-P and Talib Kweli as special guests.
