Jarvis Cocker scores new TV series Likely Stories, shares theme song — listen

Pulp frontman gets an assist from Portishead's Adrian Utley

Aside from a tribute to the victims of the Paris attacks and a contribution to Beck’s Song Reader, Jarvis Cocker has kept a low profile since the release of his second solo album, 2009’s Further Complications. That changes this spring, however, as the Pulp frontman is set to release a new EP.

The upcoming collection features four tracks written for Likely Stories, a new BBC TV series based on short stories by Neil Gaiman. The show premieres on May 26th, while the EP will be available digitally on May 27th and physically as a 7-inch beginning June 3rd through Rough Trade. For more info head here.

In a statement, Cocker said of the project: “Four grubby tales set in all night cafes, low rent drinking dens and doctor’s surgeries. I didn’t have to leave my comfort zone for this assignment.”

As a preview, Cocker has shared the full version of the Likely Stories theme song. It features Adrian Utley of Portishead on synths. Stream it below.
