Todd Solondz doesn’t really play by the rules of Hollywood. Which is why most of his work tends to exist on the fringe of society, and his latest cutthroat comedy, Wiener-Dog, is no different.
Starring Greta Gerwig, Kieran Culkin, Danny DeVito, Ellen Burstyn, Julie Delpy, and Zosia Mamet, the anthology film is a varied collection of quirky stories that meditate on the breathless march towards our respective graves.
We caught the film at this year’s past Sundance, and called it “a balmy, addicting stroll through [Solondz’s] not-so-delirious vision of America that charms just as much as it haunts.”
One of the stories features Welcome to the Dollhouse‘s Dawn Wiener and Brandon McCarthy, portrayed by Gerwig and Culkin, respectively. You can catch glimpses of the characters in the new trailer above.
Wiener-Dog opens on June 24th
