As Bonnaroovians make the grudging trek back home following another memorable weekend of music, mud, and more mud, organizers have revealed the dates for next year’s festival.
Bonnaroo 2017 will take place June 8th – 11th at Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tennessee.
And if organizers have their way, more than one festival will take place on an annual basis. According to The Tennessean, AC Entertainment’s vice president for community relations, Jeff Cuellar, met with Manchester officials last week to discuss upgrades to the festival grounds that would allow for additional events to take place annually by 2020.
Under Bonnaroo’s current agreement with Manchester, the city receives $30,000 each year in addition to $3 on each ticket sold. AC Entertainment and its owner, Live Nation, are asking officials to amend the deal so that some of that money can be re-allocated for infrastructure upgrades involving water work, sewer work, and paving.
“Our grand vision for Great Stage Park is not yet complete, and there is still plenty of work to do to the site in order to create the kind of infrastructure overhaul to allow for a diversity of events to take place on the site,” Cuellar told officials during a luncheon last week. “That’s right — Bonnaroo is just one of a series of annual events that we’d like to host at Great Stage Park.
“It is not unreasonable to think that we could be hosting two, three, four events (at the Bonnaroo site) annually by 2020.”
The current agreement between Bonnaroo and Manchester expires after the 2017 event.
