Clams Casino’s upcoming album 32 Levels is shaping up to be one promising full-length debut. With help from the likes of Vince Staples, Mikky Ekko, Kelly Zutrau of Wet and many more, the album adheres to no one genre and rather incorporates several artistic aspects into one fluid work. On “A Breath Away” featuring Kelela, the latest single from the album that was released today, Casino shows yet another side with the most down-tempo and airy track yet.
On the song, electronic production primarily takes a backseat to Kelela’s haunting vocals. “Just a breath away from heaven,” her voice echoes as light synth and subdued drumming kick in on the chorus. Casino’s carefully crafted beats gently lift Kelela’s breathy vocals higher and higher, as the song itself ascends to new heights. Listen to “A Breath Away” above.
