Given that he’s the closet thing to a real-life Willy Wonka, it’s somewhat surprising no one has ever written a book about Jack White. That’ll soon change as The Overlook Press has announced the October 4th release of Citizen Jack: How Jack White Built an Empire From the Blues.

Billed as the “definitive history” of the Third Man rocker, veteran music writer Nick Hasted penned the 320-page biography based on interviews with White’s close associates and collaborators, including Raconteurs bandmate Brendan Benson, Neil Young, and Seasick Steve.

Hasted previously wrote biographies on Eminem and The Kinks.

Update: “Neither Jack White nor Third Man Records has approved this biography,” according to a tweet from Third Man Records. “No one Jack is personally acquainted with contributed.”
