It’s been a long time since we’ve seen director Kathryn Bigelow. Save for a short PSA in 2014, the Oscar-winning filmmaker’s remained behind-the-scenes since 2012’s Zero Dark Thirty.
That will soon change as Bigelow is currently readying her next project alongside screenwriter Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty): an historical thriller chronicling the 1967 Detroit riots.
Already, she has a leading man lined up with rising star John Boyega. Today, the Star Wars hunk signed on to the as-yet-untitled project, joining Game of Thrones actress Hannah Murray.
Someone should send flowers to his agent: In addition to this and Episode VIII, Boyega is also set for James Ponsoldt’s The Circle co-starring Tom Hanks and the forthcoming sequel to Pacific Rim.
Sigh, they grow up so quick. ::runs for a tissue::
