Sigur Rós, the Icelandic outfit famed for their lush string and brass sections, are getting ready to leave both behind as they embark on their first tour as a stripped-down trio. They’ll be going it alone in every sense of the word, touring without an opening act and instead playing two distinct sets that will allow them to test out some new songs as well as some old standbys that haven’t seen the light of day in a long time.

We don’t want to speculate that the trio is getting any pre-tour jitters, but they did just perform an intimate “dress rehearsal” show at Fly By Night Rehearsal Studios in England. As the band’s website notes, 250 invited fans witnessed a brand-new stage show that included the debut of new song “Óveður” and the first performance of “Starálfur” in nearly a decade.

Sigur Rós will officially embark on tour this Saturday at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound, where we’ll have reporters on the ground. Check out the dress rehearsal setlist below via Setlist.fm, along with some photos from the show taken by Marc Heimendinger.
