The National premiere new song “The Day I Die” at Welcome to Hamilton benefit concert — watch

The band has also performed new track "Hague Blue" at recent gigs

The National headlined Welcome to Hamilton, a benefit concert for Syrian youth refugees in Hamilton, Ontario on Friday evening. The gig was set inside the New Vision United Church, which the band thought was the perfect venue to baptize a few new songs.

Matt Berninger and the boys slotted new tracks “The Day I Die” and “Hague Blue” into the middle of their set. Watch fan-shot video of the former, featuring a sizzling dual guitar duel from the Dessner brothers, from Welcome to Hamilton above. The complete setlist from the benefit show can be found below.

This isn’t the only new material The National have been trotting out lately. In addition to playing songs their Grateful Dead covers album, Day of the Dead, on various TV programs, the band performed a track alternatively called “Checking Out’ or “Roman Candle” at gigs late last year. It would seem that a follow-up to 2013’s Trouble Will Find Me is well in the works.
