Music festivals don’t get much bigger than Milwaukee’s long-running Summerfest. After all, there’s a reason its slogan is, “The World’s Largest Music Festival.” Held over June 29th – July 3rd and July 5th – 10th throughout the Henry Maier Festival Park grounds, the event features 800 musicians from damn near every genre performing across 11 stages. Yeah, it’s friggin’ huge.
And this year’s lineup is as huge as it gets. “Headliners” doesn’t even matter when you’ve got acts like Ryan Adams and The Shining, Hollywood Vampires, Death Cab for Cutie, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Garbage, Willie Nelson, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Passion Pit, and The Decemberists all playing. Well, them and Hunter Hayes, The Roots, Ray Lamontagne, Gavin DeGraw, Mike D (DJ Set), Nelly, Barenaked Ladies, Dustin Lynch, Billy Idol, Elle King, Young the Giant, Commodores, Violent Femmes, Common, Cheap Trick, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Kris Kristofferson, Femi Kuti & The Positive Force, Mayer Hawthorne, Joe Jackson, Ben Folds, Umphrey’s McGee, Indigo Girls, Kool and the Gang, Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers, Morris Day and the Time, Peter Bjorn and John, KT Tunstall, Styx, Sir Mix-A- Lot, Blue Oyster Cult, Son Little, and many, many, many more.
