Zhu shares summery new single “GENERATIONWHY” — listen

Our first taste of the rising producer's upcoming debut album

Elusive producer Zhu made his mark with 2014’s THE NIGHTDAY EP, a six-track collection anchored by breakthrough single “Faded”. He’s since worked with the likes of A-Trak, Skrillex, Gallant, and AlunaGeorge, who appear on his Genesis Series standout “Automatic”. Now, the rising beatmaker is prepping his full-length debut album. Due out this summer via Columbia Records, the as-yet-untitled project is being previewed this week with a new single called “GENERATIONWHY”.

In an email to The Fader, Zhu described the song as an embodiment “of youthful summer” and it’s not hard to see why. The cut boasts disco flavor, windy and beckoning synths, and Zhu’s own featherweight vocals, which often sound like a dead ringer for Pharrell Williams.
