Alessia Cara has shared a new music video for “Scars To Your Beautiful”, a single off her 2015 breakthrough debut album, Know-It-All. Conceived by the Canadian singer herself, the clip sees various women — of all shapes, sizes, ages, and races, including cancer survivors and transgender people — recount their own stories about inner and outer beauty.
In a statement to Cosmopolitan.com, where the visual premiered this morning, Cara said:
“I wanted to do this kind of video for a very long time. Since we had this song — and since we knew it was going to be a single — I had this vision of many different cinematic shots of different kinds of people. I wanted all kinds of people — young, old, whatever their situation, whether it’s visible scars, non-visible scars — just a bunch of different women, and there are some men in there as well because it can reach out to guys too. But I wanted real shots of real people telling their stories, and showing the story through little vignettes.”

Additionally, Cara, who celebrates her 20th birthday today, has lined up a US trek dubbed her “Know-It-All Tour Part II.” The headlining tour kicks off in late September following supporting dates with Coldplay.
