“American Pie” singer Don McLean has pled guilty to a domestic violence assault against his estranged wife, Patrisha, according to The Associated Press.
McLean, 70, was arrested at his Camden, Maine home in January. He initially pled not guilty to misdemeanor assault and posted $10,000 bail.
On Thursday, McLean changed his plea to guilty. He will pay a $3,000 fine, but will stay out of jail as long as he stays out of trouble for the next year.
Patrisha, McLean’s wife of 30 years, filed for divorce citing “adultery, cruel and abusive treatment, and irreconcilable differences.”
