John Malkovich is about to be swarmed by a bunch of nerds. The actor has just joined the cast of Supercon, a new comedy from director Zak Knutson, a documentarian known for his work surrounding Kevin Smith.
The story of Supercon, which is now filming in New Orleans, centers around a group of former TV actors and comic artists who now get by making appearances attending comic conventions. Unsatisfied with the poor treatment and petty wages of being slaves to the con circuit, the group bands together to rob a convention run by a crooked promoter and headlined by an arrogant TV star from a bygone age.
Malkovich joins a cast that already includes Maggie Grace, Mike Epps, Russell Peters, Clancy Brown, and CariDee English. Knutson co-wrote the script with Andrew Sipes.
