Ah, fandom. You buy all the merch, you go to all the shows, you illegally download all the music. So when you find yourself occupying the same space as your icons, maybe you feel like you deserve a piece of them. Maybe you stretch a hand out for a shake, give a harmless pat on the back, of if you’re this one Justin Timberlake fan, you straight up slap the singer in the face.
Timberlake was participating in the American Century Celebrity Pro-Am in Lake Tahoe over the weekend. As he was walked through the crowd, a hand reached over the ropes and through security to touch him right on the face. As video from TMZ shows, Timberlake stopped dead and turned to the offender, calling, “Bro, why would you do that?”
The singer than briskly walked away, and together with the tournament officials decided against pressing chargers. The fan, who said he just wanted to “touch” Timberlake and became “overzealous,” was getting off easy, but just couldn’t help digging his own grave. When police came to boot the man from the venue, he apparently put up resistance and was arrested for disorderly conduct.
