Most would agree that everything we needed to learn in life came from True Detective’s Rust Cohle. Matthew McConaughey’s uber cynical detective spouted out just the right amount of existential poetry for us to digest with ease. Here’s a gem: “I think human consciousness is a tragic misstep in evolution.” Fucking classic.
Well, somebody over at The University of Texas at Austin was listening, because McConaughey’s returning to his alma mater as a temporary professor. Here’s the official bulletin:
Sadly, he won’t be teaching Dark Philosophy 101, but will instead share his knowledge on what he does best: No, not picking up ladies — film! Alongside The Free State of Jones director Gary Ross, the Texas-born actor will take 30 students behind-the-scenes of filmmaking through pre-recorded videos.
Even better, he’ll make at least one visit to the campus for the class. Considering he has a home in Austin and he frequents Longhorn football games (not to mention, his love for Austin City Limits), that shouldn’t be too tall of an order for the Man in Black. Maybe he’ll bring his pal Richard Linklater, too.
Here’s one question for the prof: Are shirts mandatory?
