Ryan Adams has spent a good chunk of the last two weeks playing unique covers for his audiences. At one show, he covered Oasis’ “Morning Glory” and “Supersonic” for the first time ever; and at Newport Folk Fest this past weekend, he reimagined Slayer and Black Sabbath songs as Bluegrass standards.
However, during his appearance on Colbert last night, Adams turned the focus back on his own material to give fans something special: He dusted off his 2000 Heartbreaker track “Oh My Sweet Carolina”. It was an intimate and sweet performance as well as a nice throwback moment, especially considering most artists usually play newer stuff off their repertoire when they hit up the late-night circuit.
Catch it above. For the performance, Adams was joined by Infamous Stringdusters and Nicki Bluhm, who also accompanied him at Newport Folk Festival over the weekend.https://youtu.be/YgP1J34D8LA
