Warren Beatty’s highly anticipated Rules Don’t Apply, in which the actor/producer/director plays the eccentric tycoon and aviation enthusiast Howard Hughes, finally has its first trailer. And holy hell, it looks fantastic. Based in 1950s Hollywood, Beatty’s first film in 18 years centers on an aspiring young actress (Lily Collins) and her driver (Alden Ehrenreich), both of whom work for Hughes and immediately hit it off romantically. The problem? Hughes has a rule against employees engaging in relationships with contact actresses.
If the trailer is any indication, Ehrenreich and Collins have developed the kind of chemistry that jumps right off the screen, but it’s Beatty who really steals the show. Rules Don’t Apply has been a passion project for the Hollywood veteran for quite some time now, and the fact that it hits theaters on November 23rd, 2016 (right at the beginning of Oscar season) signals that Fox has a lot of faith in him.
