Amnesty (I) is the new album from Crystal Castles, expected to hit store shelves next week on August 19th. Due out via Casablanca Records, the 12-track collection serves as the group’s first LP since Alice Glass’ departure two years ago. Already we’ve had a number of peeks at the project, including “Concrete”, “Frail”, and last month’s “Char”. Now, the experimental outfit is previewing its (III) follow-up with “Fleece”.
Despite its cozy title, the track sees this new incarnation of the band looking to its beginnings for inspiration. After three misleading seconds of tenderness, the whole thing erupts into a fearless and in-your-face electro punk rager. It’s clear that, with or without Glass, Crystal Castles are able to summon a feral kind of intensity at the drop of a hat.
