What a surprise, Disney continues to conquer all entertainment.

Today, the Mouse House announced that they signed Lin-Manuel Miranda to another project. The Hamilton creator and singer had previously joined their sequel to Mary Poppins (in addition to writing every song for this fall’s Moana), and now he’s set to pen songs for their future live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.

Even better, Miranda will be teaming up with Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken. Fans of the Disney Renaissance films will undoubtedly recognize Menken as the man responsible for all the hit songs of that era, from “Under the Sea” to “Beauty and the Beast” to “A Whole New World”. In other words, the two should go together like buddah.

In even more Good Job, Lin-Manuel Miranda News, the Broadway mastermind will also serve as producer, ensuring his talent doesn’t swim by without an extra heaping pile of cash. He has his work cut out for him, though, as there currently isn’t a single star attached, which means it’s time to start looking for those daughters of Triton.
