Chance the Rapper kicked off Savemoney’s huge summer with the excellent Coloring Book. But the season’s far from over for the Chicago collective, which also counts Vic Mensa and Joey Purp among its ranks.
Mensa and Purp previously teamed up on the latter’s May mixtape, iiiDrops. Today, they’ve reunited on “773 Freestyle”, a new collaborative song produced by Papi Beatz. Both rappers talk Chi-town (773 is one of the city’s area codes) and the tense relationship between local communities and the officers that police them. “Underpaid and under pressure, under fear of getting shot,” Purp rhymes.
If their lines sound a little familiar, that’s because the two Savemoney members debuted a few of them during an appearance on Sway Calloway’s “Sway in the Morning” segment.

iiiDrops is out now. Mensa’s newest release, There’s Alot Going On EP, is also available.
