Jamie Lidell will release his latest record, Building a Beginning, on October 14th via his own Jajulin Records. The neo-soul singer’s follow-up to his 2013 self-titled effort was previously previewed with “Walk Right Back”, and today is sampled again with the title track.
“Building a Beginning” is pure throwback, a bewitching haze of psychedelic soul that brings to mind a young Stevie Wonder. Lidell’s vocals billow and ache as he promises his lover that he’ll give his all to their budding relationship: “Oh, I can deliver/ Without moving to surrender/ And I can make up my mind/ To carry on.”
