The pairing of CoSigned crooner Gallant and R&B songstress Jhené Aiko seemed so right on the silky soul of the former’s “Skipping Stones”. But if the video for the Ology track is any indication, it seems things are not so heavenly between the collaborators. Directed by American Millennial for Red Bull Sound Select, the track opens with a bound Gallant trapped in the trunk of a car. As the camera slowly reveals the driver, we see that it’s Aiko herself, wringing her hands and seemingly contemplating her next move. Turns out that she’s taken Gallant to what could be his final, fiery destination.
(Maybe she’s just mad he didn’t ask her to perform with him alongside Elton John?)
“I’m really into the whole one shot thing. Even just the way that I write, I really like living into a moment,” Gallant said in a press release. “Digging into all the subtext that that moment kind of carries. I thought that this particular scene would just very naturally, in a very subtly complex way, kind of just illustrate exactly all of the fiery emotions that are coming through lyrically in the song from both perspectives.”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GkH7qG8HO0
