Even though it’s almost two decades old, the feud between Liam and Noel Gallagher is still one of the most entertaining squabbles of 2016. That’s due in large part to the former incessantly calling the latter a “potato,” a comparison he’s now explained in an interview with Metro.
The description came up after the British newspaper asked about the chances of Oasis ever reforming, which actually led to Liam saying something nice about his brother. “Who knows? It certainly wouldn’t be for money,” he said, before adding, “I guess it would be nice to put it all to bed for me mam’s sake. I miss hanging out with my brother. I fucking love him, but at the same time he’s treated me like a bit of a cunt. We’re having a stand off, but it’s a funny one, we’re not putting in each other’s windows or messing with each other’s tires, trying to kill each other.”
Though he admitted the feud is a bit tongue in cheek, he wasn’t about to let up on the name calling. “He’s like, ‘He can’t sing.’ ‘Fucking do one, potato.’ It’s stupid and childish and we should know better, but we don’t.”
At the mention of the starchy plant tuber, the Metro asked why he kept comparing Noel to a potato. “‘Cause he looks like one.” Well, fair enough. Liam even tweeted out visual proof of his assertion not long after the interview went live:
It wasn’t just Noel’s features that Liam took jabs at, however. He promised that if he ever caught one of his children going to a Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds show, he’d make sure to teach them a lesson. “If I ever caught them at one of their gigs, there’d be trouble,” he said. “I’d stop their pocket money, or I’d dish out loads of old photos of them with nappies full of shit and put that on the internet and say, ‘Cop that, dickhead.'”
The interview came in advance of the forthcoming Oasis documentary Supersonic, due out October 2nd.
