Sylvan Esso, Wilco, and Run the Jewels Highlight the Top Songs of the Week (9/2)

Did we get it right this week? Let us know!

Nothing brings out the comments quite like a ranking. Last week, we ranked all of Pearl Jam’s records, and it sure got a lot of feedback between our social media pages and the comments section on the post. Each and every week, we put together one of these posts ready for some serious debate, so come at us! We’d love to hear your feedback on what should’ve made the list, what did make the list, and the order. We debated it long enough ourselves and are ready for the conversation. Enjoy!

    10. Machinedrum – “Do It 4 U” ft. D∆WN

Travis Stewart, bka Machinedrum, is an audio architect with few equals. No matter the continent, the Berlin transplant has garnered massive respect in the underground dance realms. A sweat-inducing amalgam of juke-inspired percussion, jungle chaos, and future bass melodies, “Do It 4 U” arrives as an unexpected alt-pop stunner thanks to the airy vocals of R&B songstress D∆WN. Each an eccentric artist in his/her own right, the pair are two for two in making beautifully disruptive tunage (following the recent Machinedrum-produced D∆WN offering “Wake Up”). “Do It 4 U” is available 9/30 via Ninja Tune on Machinedrum’s forthcoming Human Energy LP. –Derek Staples
