Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, but Tom Hanks is set to star in a World War 2 drama.

In the forthcoming Greyhound, Hanks will portray “a career officer given command of a Navy destroyer — named ‘Greyhound’ — who has to deal with combat enemies and his own self doubts,” according to Variety.

Hanks wrote the film’s script himself, with Aaron Schneider (Get Low) on board as director.

Of course, Hanks famously portrayed Captain John Miller in Saving Private Ryan, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor. He also executive produced two WW2-themed mini-series for HBO in Band of Brothers and The Pacific.

Hanks’ latest film, the Sully Sullenberger biopic Sully, hit theaters this past weekend. To mark the occasion, the staff of Consequence of Sound picked our 10 favorite Hanks performances.
