Pusha T was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night, but he wasn’t there to perform. In fact, the closest they got to one of his tracks was playing the beat for “Grindin’, to which Colbert and actress Mary-Louise Parker grooved out. The G.O.O.D. Music head sat down between the two to discuss his role in the McDonalds “I’m Lovin’ It” jingle, as well as his political activism.
Pusha talked about his involvement in the Hillary Clinton campaign, and in particular his views on the US incarceration rates. “That’s the most important issue to me simply because I think that’s the most important issue tearing apart our community right now,” he said. He added that since many felons can’t vote or receive grants, “It’s like you keep paying forever. We have to change that.” Watch the interview above.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKey-CAeFok
In related news, Pusha recently sat down with Democratic vice presidential candidate to discuss gun violence, the criminal justice system, systematic racism, and more.
