A Tribe Called Quest’s We Got it From Here … Thank You 4 Your Service is an incredible album all the way around, but perhaps no track stands out more than “We the People”. As many try to comprehend the events of the last week, the politically-charged anthem has become a call to arms. Regardless of who occupies the White House, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and misogyny have no place in our society.
In the song’s accompanying video, A Tribe Called Quest take this message to the streets. As “We the People…” rings aloud, blacks, the Mexicans, and the poor folks, Muslims, gays, and bad folks all gather in protest. Interspersed throughout are graffiti tributes to Tribe’s late member, Phife Dawg. Watch above.
We Got it From Here … Thank You 4 Your Service is A Tribe Called Quest’s first album in nearly two decades and will also be the group’s last. Earlier today, Q-Tip revealed that they plan to embark on one final tour in the near future.
