Last week, A Tribe Called Quest dropped their first album in 18 years, We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service. The stellar, star-studded collection is something of a bittersweet project for ATCQ, as it serves as both a comeback release and the final entry in their decades-spanning discography.
While fans can’t expect any more new material to come from the group, all is not lost: Q-Tip and the rest of the seminal hip-hop outfit will tour the world one last time before bowing out. Q-Tip confirmed the plans to Billboard recently, saying, “This is our last record, and we’ll probably do a world tour. After that, that’s it, for the rest of our lives.” In anticipation, the group has signed with CAA for worldwide representation.
If their tour will be anything even remotely like their show-stopping Saturday Night Live performance last weekend, it’s safe to say ATCQ will be ending on a very, very high note. More like we thank you, ATCQ, for your service.
In related news, a street in Queens, New York will be officially named after the late, great Phife Dawg this Saturday; for more information on the ceremony, head here. The group is also previewing the new music video for “We The People” with a teaser clip, which you can see below.
