On Monday, a report surfaced saying that Kanye West was not yet stable enough for release from the UCLA Medical Center where’s he’s been since last week. The producer-rapper had been involuntarily hospitalized for “his own health and safety” due to suffering from “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.”
Now, Us Magazine has more details about how Kanye’s utilizing his down time at the hospital. According to a source, the Chicago native wants to work on both his music and fashion lines from his hospital bed, despite overworking causing his breakdown in the first place and wife Kim Kardashian asking him to rest.
“Kanye keeps wanting to work. At the hospital, he requested that recording equipment be brought to the hospital so he can record in his bed,” the source told Us. “And he has kept asking to see sketches of his fashion lines.” Another source confirmed the report to FADER, stating, “I would say he’s eager to work and has been requesting a studio set-up.”
As Fake Shore Drive points out, the situation is reminiscent of “Through The Wire”-era Kanye, when he was eager to get out of the hospital after a near-fatal car accident and record a song about the experience. Back then, Kanye was at his hungriest, impatient to show the music industry and his future fans that he could be a successful rapper as well as a producer. It resulted in the College Dropout single which propelled him into stardom and kickstarted his now-legendary career.
Undoubtedly, Kanye has plenty to say about what he’s been through recently — especially after the rants about Donald Trump, Jay Z, President Obama, and more which preceded the cancellation of his Saint Pablo tour and subsequent hospitalization.
