On the eve of the election, Regina Spektor has shared the video for her Remember Us to Life track “The Trapper and The Furrier”. An intimate performance-based piece, filming took place inside a stairwell with director Jack Dishel and photographer Shervin Lainez.
The timing of the video is appropriate considering the song is one of Spektor’s most political-minded compositions to date, with a chorus that goes, “What a strange, strange world we live in/ Those who don’t have lose, those who got get given/ More, more, more, more.” In an accompanying note posted to Facebook, Spektor wrote, “With all that is going on I wanted to share it. Good luck to us all. Good luck to our world. There are many kinds of paradise…Let’s be on the side of those in need. Let’s be on the side of those who love. Let’s be on the side of those who care, who participate, who try… And if not all that, then at least, let’s be on the side of those who pay their taxes;-).”
